What we pay extra attention to for furniture makers.
Deposits and instalments
We invoice deposits correctly, so the VAT is declared at the right time and your final invoice reconciles.
Work in progress and stock
We value timber, sheet materials and half-finished commissions in your annual accounts, so your profit is right.
Workshop machinery
Saws, planers and CNC machines are big investments that count towards the investment allowance.

Frequently asked questions from furniture makers
When do I pay VAT on a deposit?+

How do I value my timber stock?+
We normally value stock at purchase price. In the annual accounts, we also include work in progress.
Can I deduct my CNC machine?+
Yes. You depreciate the machine, and the purchase can count towards the small business investment allowance (KIA).
Am I tied to a contract as a furniture maker?+
No. Your subscription can be cancelled monthly and you pay a fixed monthly fee, with no hourly billing.
Can I switch halfway through the year?+
Yes. We arrange the handover with your current accountant, including history, opening balance and ongoing tax returns.
