General ledger (grootboek)
The overview of all accounts in your bookkeeping, such as revenue, costs, bank and receivables. Every entry is posted to one or more general ledger accounts.
A well-structured general ledger makes your figures comparable and your returns reliable. Each account has a fixed number and belongs to either the balance sheet or the profit and loss account.
The Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst) counts the general ledger among your core records. You keep these for 7 years.
